Obituary for James Gustav "Jim" Otto

James “Jim” G. Otto was born December 29, 1961, in Yonkers, New York to Gary L. and Judith M. Otto. He passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2017, attended by his sister, Sherrie.
Jim’s father was on active duty in the U.S. Air Force and he and his two siblings moved with their parents to several locations including Guam and Hawaii. He graduated from high school in Tucson, Arizona and entered the U.S. Air Force. He served for more than seven years as an electronics technician maintaining and repairing avionic and navigational equipment on aircraft. Jim served at several locations including Korea, the Philippines, and the Middle East. After leaving the Air Force, he repaired electronics on ships and ultimately worked at a local casino as the bench technician, a position reserved for only the most skilled technicians. Jim had a reputation as the technician who could fix everything.
Jim had two true passions: his son, David, and treasure hunting, a hobby that he shared with his son.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Anna Werner and Donald L. Otto and Katherine Jean Otto.
Jim is survived by his parents; his brother, Don L. Otto; his sister, Sherrie Otto Moore of Arizona and his son, David James Otto of Biloxi.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017, at 4pm at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services, 6631 Washington Avenue in Ocean Springs, where friends may visit thirty minutes prior to the service.
