Obituary for Douglas Keith Stiles

SMSgt. Douglas Keith Stiles (Ret.) 68, passed unexpectedly in Biloxi, MS on November 29, 2018. SMSgt. Stiles was a highly decorated war veteran and devoted patriot.

SMSgt. Stiles was born on August 24, 1950 in Indianapolis, IN to Trevor and Belva Stiles. In 1968, he joined the Air Force and was assigned to Sheppard Air Force Base. After graduating from tech school, he served his country for 24 years, traveling all over the world. SMSgt. Stiles was deployed several times throughout his career. After retiring from the United States Air Foce, SMSgt. Stiles joined the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.

SMSgt. Stiles was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a patient and devoted father, grandfather, and husband. He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Kay Porter in 1968 and went on to have two beautiful and successful daughters, Laura Underwood and Heather Stiles. A natural outdoors man, SMSgt. Stiles had one granddaughter that he passed on his career and love of law enforcement, another great love was his interest and support of the local autism support group. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 1992 and the local Patriot Guard Riders.

He is preceded in death by his first true love, Brenda Kay Stiles; his second wife, Evelyn Iler Stiles; father, Trevor Stiles; mother, Belva Arnold; step father William Arnold; beloved brother, Mike Stiles; brother in law Coy Williams,and step grandson, Michael Iler.

SMSgt. Stiles is survived by his daughters, Laura (Jessie) Underwood and Heather (Anthony Barnes) Stiles; granddaughter, Allison Underwood; stepsons, Eddie (Donna) Iler and Charles Iler; two great grandchildren Brice and Lane; step grandchildren, Erin Iler, Joshua Iler; siblings, Kimberly (Keith) Stratakos, Kent (Candy) Stiles, Dorothy (Pedro) Adams, Diane Williams; a host of nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Angel.

The family will receive friends from 10 am until 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs. The funeral service will follow at 11:30.

Interment with military honors will be held in Biloxi National Cemetery.
