Mary Sue Lepoma, age 78, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, on her birthday. Born in Shaw, Mississippi, to Eugene Wilson and Winnie Ethel Crowder, Sue grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bart Brewer; brothers, Albert Crowder, William Crowder, Charlie Crowder, James Crowder, Archie Crowder; and sisters, Ruth Holmes and Ollie Reindl.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Anthony S. Lepoma, Sr.; sons, Randy (Arlene) Brewer; David (Linda) Brewer; Bret Brewer; Anthony (Carrie) Lepoma Jr. ; and daughter Susan (David) Lepoma Perkins; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Sue worked as a server at Gus Stevens Restaurant in the late 1960s where she waited on and fell in love with her husband, Anthony. She not only was a stay-at-home mom, but was a business owner, and a supervisor at two local casinos. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, crafting, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Sue brought love and laughter to everyone she met and was known for her quick wit and sass. Her honesty and kindheartedness were endearing traits, always willing to help someone in need or offer advice. There was never a situation she could not fix or a problem she could not solve. Christmas was her favorite holiday, as she loved decorating, giving gifts, and spreading joy to others.
Visitation will be held in her honor at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services, 6631 Washington Ave., Ocean Springs, on Wednesday, Nov. 1., noon-2 p.m. with a celebration of life service following at 2p.m.
Private inurnment will be held in Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date.
