Obituary for Corkey

Ellis Neely "Corkey" Cockrell, 78, of Escatawpa, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 in Pascagoula.


He was born on October 20, 1939 in Mendenhall to the late Jay Cockrell and Goldie Cockrell. Early on, he was a electrician where he was a member of the IBEW 903 where he worked on constructions projects including building the twin towers in the 1970's. He was a member of the BPOE in Pascagoula for over fifty years.

He was also the owner of Last Chance Liquor & Package Store and Bodacious Barbeque in Moss Point and the loving owner of Corkey's Chihuahuas.

He is preceded in death by wife, Jan Craft Cockrell; daughter, Neely Cockrell; sister, Shirley Raughley; sister Sheila Taylor, and brother, Dennis Cockrell.

Survivors include his long time friend Marie Gibson, a host of nieces and nephews, and brother in law Jimmy Taylor.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at The Elk's Lodge, 303 Krebs Avenue, Pasagoula, Mississippi, 39567.
