Obituary for Billy Ray Heldt

Billy Ray Heldt, 67, of Kiln, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.

Billy was a loving husband who loved and cared for his family. In his younger years, he coached two t-ball teams: The Rangers and the Orioles.

He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corp where he finished over 150 combat, patrol, and ambush missions. This included three major secret missions in Vietnam. He earned various medals during his service; but, most notably he was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Gallantry Cross, the Distinguished Combat Medal of Valor, and the Navy Accommodation Medal.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years. Kathryn McClantoc Heldt and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A celebration of life service is planned for 2 pm on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services, 6631 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, Mississippi 39564. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service.
