Obituary for Lois Marie Miller (Cates)

Lois Marie Cates Miller, age 87 of Biloxi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 12, 2018, surrounded by her family. Lois was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, loved to play BINGO, enjoyed traveling to watch her kids play ball, and loved spending time with her family. She worked at Desporte’s Bakery on Crawford St. and was a Caregiver most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Joseph “Cotton” Miller Sr., her parents Joe and Annie Cates, her siblings; Martin Kates, Jim Kates, Elsie Tisdale, Opal Smith, Otis Cates, Curtis Cates, Ethel Byrd, John “Bruner” Cates, Edith Desporte, Collie Cates, Louise Cates, and Baby Cates.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Linda) Miller, Sabrina (Lyle) Moran, Henry Joseph “Joey” (Sara) Miller Jr., Lora Ann (Kirk Ray) Miller, and Richard Miller; her grandchildren, Randel (Missy) Miller, Greg (Carrie) Miller, Ian (Jill) Moran, Jessica (Edward) Riddle, Matthew (Stefanie) Moran, Taylor (Bennett) Godwin, Stefanie Miller, Logan (Tiffany Owens) Zirlott, Katie Miller, and Zachary Zirlott; 13 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, her brother William “Sonny Boy” Cates, and her furry companion Casey.

The family would like to thank Dr. Pavlov and Staff, Dr. Cunningham and Staff, Dr. French and Staff, Sunplex Subacute Center, and The Staff at Ocean Springs Hospital for their loving care. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Humane Society of South Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, December 14, 2018 at D'Iberville Christian Assembly. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until noon. Interment will follow in LaRue Wilkerson Cemetery under the direction of Southern Mississippi Funeral Services.
