Obituary for Else Geretrude Goodman
Else Gertrude Goodman, 94, of D'Iberville received her well deserved angel wings and halo on Wednesday February 26th, 2020. She was born in Linden, Germany on December 3rd, 1925 to Johann and Frieda Bernhardt.
She is preceded in death by both parents, her brothers; Gerhard and Adolph and her beloved sister, Erna.
She is survived by her five children; Roger Goodman, Veronica Williams (Bobby), Rodney Goodman (Michelle), Rex Goodman (Yasmin) and Roy Goodman (Mariela).
She was well loved by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren and felt they were each and every one a special blessing. She had a very special bond with her grandson Joshua Williams and they shared many special times together.
She had a difficult life as she lived in Germany during WWII and was a refugee and in a POW camp during the war. She married Walter Goodman in Germany, who was in the United States Air Force, and returned to the United States to start a new life. She became a nurse in her 40's and received many awards for her excellent nursing skills. She was very loving and selfless, always putting everyone else's needs ahead of her own.
The highlight of her week was going to church on Sunday at New Life Family Church and hearing one of Pastor Jeff's sermons.
Her last two years were spent at Greenbriar Nursing Home, where she received excellent care and always had a smile on her face no matter what the circumstances.
She will be forever missed and her family has been incredibly blessed to have her as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
