Obituary for Leon Douglas James Hastings

Leon was born on May 25, 2020 at 11:56pm, nearly three weeks early, weighing in this world 7 lbs., 7 oz., and was 20.5 inches long. He passed away quietly and peacefully in his parents' arms on June 3, 2020 from medical complications suffered during birth.

Although he lived for just over eight days, Leon fought bravely and clung to life to ensure that his parents and extensive family could all meet him (either in person or virtually) and experience the presence of "Leon The Lion" as he has become affectionately known by his family and close friends. Leon was still able to grip his Mommy's finger and respond to his Daddy's touch during his brief stay on Earth. He experienced hugs and kisses from his family, listening as his Mommy and Daddy told him stories, and being told "I love you" countless amount of times so that he knew how much he is loved. Leon only lived for 8 and a half days, but during this short time he was surrounded by loved ones and exuded nothing but pure love for his parents, family, and friends. Leon was able to successfully donate his heart valves to LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency), and by this selfless act he will pass on the gift of life to one or more deserving babies.

Leon is greeted in Heaven by his paternal grandmother and grandfather, and his maternal uncle. He is celebrated on Earth by his parents, his big brother and sister, his maternal grandmother, his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many dear friends. Leon will always remain his parents' precious baby and they will hold him again in Heaven one day.
