Christopher Guy Holbrook, 49 of Lizana died at home on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. Chris was born the son of Avron (Pee-Wee) & Norman (Whitten) Holbrook on November 9, 1970 in Gulfport, MS. He grew up in Lizana and attended Lizana Elementary, North Gulfport 7th & 8th Grade, Harrison Central 9thGrade, and graduated from Harrison Central High School with the class of 1988. Chris worked as a veterinary technician, in the area, when he finished high school for a couple of years before starting a career at Teledyne Irby Steel where he became a certified Industrial Radiographer. He worked there until the company closed its doors. He then went to work for MDOT as a Construction Inspector and enjoyed his new adventure until he fell ill and could no longer work. He was a member of the Lizana Riding Club and competed in many timed event horseshows with family and friends on his horse, Cody. Horses were one of Chris’s favorite pastimes along with hunting and fishing. When he became sick and could no longer ride, he took up watching horsemanship shows, horse racing on HGTV along with all the hunting and fishing shows he could find. If there was anything you needed or wanted to know about any of the three, all you had to do was ask. He knew right where to go and what bait to use to catch as many fish as his arm could reel in & there was not a horse out there that he could not tell you all about its blood line, where it came from, and where it is at now. Chris was a gracious man who was blessed with a beautiful son, who he loved and adored more than anything. He took such pride in helping raise Justin and instilling those same traits and life lessons in him that he was taught.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Lee Whitten Holbrook; his maternal grandparents (Little Maw-Maw) Mary Lee, Beryl, and Norman; his paternal grandparents, (Big Maw-Maw) Dona Lee, T.O., and James; his uncles, Harold, David, Charles, and Andy; and his cousin David. Left to cherish his memories are: his son Justin Holliman of
Denver, Colorado, his unborn grandchild due in February 2021; his daddy, Avron (Pee-Wee) Holbrook; his brother, Scott Holbrook, both of Lizana; his aunts, Cheryl Lizana, who he claimed as his sister, and Berylyn Marie; Uncles Kenneth Whitten, Mike & Bruce Holbrook along with many other aunts, cousins, and extended family and friends. A private family memorial will be celebrated on a later date.
