Obituary for Bettie Jean Daves (Odom)

Mrs. Bettie Jean "Bettie Boop" Odom Daves, 82, passed away in Ocean Springs, MS on November 5, 2020. She was born in Mobile, Alabama. Both parents preceded her in death as well as her husband, Rodney Daves and stepdaughter, Shaney.

She is survived by her nieces, Barbara Scott of Pascagoula, Sue Hartfield of Gulfport, MS, Marilyn Bron, Arizona as well as her cousin Joe Odom of Pascagoula. She referred to him as her twin because they were born on the same day. She has step-grandchildren and numerous cousins in Grove Hill, Alabama. Mrs. Daves is also survived by her neighbor and best friend of forty plus years, Janice Bellinger. They were called the "Ditchy-Bitchies". There were also many other friends; Jean Hunter of 40 years, Linda Musgrove of 30 years and various friends throughout her lifetime. She was easily befriended by those around her. The newest friends are Todd and Cathy Luedeke. When Mrs. Daves made you a her friend, you were her friend for life. She was well loved by all who knew her, especially her cat "Cuddles". She rescued Cuddles out of the ditch about ten years ago. Bettie was very talented. She loved to paint, build anything, enjoyed dancing, and roller skating. She attended church at Grace Independent Baptist Church in Ocean Springs.

Mrs. Daves worked at Edgewater Walgreens for many years and served as the manager of Hobbyville in Edgewater and Belair Mall in Mobile, Alabama.

Donations can be made in her name to Susan G. Komen for Breast Cancer Research.

Due to the pandemic of Covid-!9. a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
