Obituary for Jami Ellen Ryan (Ryan)

Jami Ellen Ryan, born September 21, 1972 in Pascagoula, MS, gained her wings on November 27, 2020.
Jami graduated from St. Martin Class of 1990, where she served as senior class president and cheerleader captain. After attending the University of Southern Mississippi for 2 years and completing initiation into the Delta Pi Chapter of Delta Gamma Fraternity, she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from the University of North Texas. After graduation, she taught in Plano Independent School District for several years. Shortly after her return to Mississippi, her family was relocated to Trinidad then Venezuela. While abroad, she enjoyed soaking in the local culture and art with her family. For the past thirteen years, she has resided in Ocean Springs and continued to teach and express herself through her artwork.

Jami was a vibrant free spirit and lived life to the fullest. She loved being on the water, dancing, traveling to Mexico, spending time with her family and friends, painting, and writing. She never met a stranger and brought great joy to everyone in her presence. Jami will be remembered for her strength, kindness, artistry, and exuberance.

Jami was preceded in death by her father, James Edward Ryan; her maternal grandparents, Samuel and Mae Nell Zanca, and her paternal grandparents, Harry and Inez Ryan, all of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Survivors include her two children, Hendrix Scout Haddox and Joplin-Skye Haddox; her loving mother, Nancy Zanca Ryan; her two sisters, Misti Ryan and Ashli Ryan (Ian) Locke; and her nephews James Samuel Ryan, Rylan Ian Locke, and Rowan Ian Locke.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services, 6631 Washington Avenue in Ocean Springs from 12 noon until 2 with a memorial service to immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made in the name of Ms. Jami Ryan to Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence.
