Obituary for Joshua Durrick Weer

Joshua Weer.
September 14, 1999 – May 16, 2021

Joshua Weer, born September 14, 1999; passed away May 16, 2021 at home in Biloxi, MS. Josh attended St. Martin schools until his junior year. He then transferred to Madison Central High School in Madison, MS where he graduated in 2018. Josh attended several colleges after graduation and had quite a few majors. His most recent degree choice was Marine Science at MGCCC. While on a mission trip to the Navajo Desert, Josh accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a gas station in Arizona. He was active with Lemoyne Boulevard Baptist Church youth group and Young Life. It brings great comfort to us knowing he is resting in the arms of Christ.
Josh was an avid fisherman who loved the water. He fished day and night depending on the tides. He never passed up a body of water (big puddles included) he did not think about putting his pole in to catch a fish. Josh rooted for the Florida Gators religiously. On occasion, he would pull for the Clemson Tigers to make his Aunt Brandy happy. Josh’s most loyal friend has 4 legs, black fur and goes by the name Curry. Eight years ago, Curry wandered into a friends yard and Santa brought him to his forever home Christmas Day. Curry went everywhere with Josh. He was the best fishing buddy a young man could ask for.

Josh had many nicknames growing up: Joshie, JD, JWeer, JWeezy, the beast, (some we can’t list), and Peanut. He will forever be our Little Peanut.

Josh is survived by his parents, Misty and Jory Howell of Biloxi and his brother, Ethan, who is also in the home; his father, Chadd Weer of Memphis, TN with stepbrothers Alex, Bailey, and Andrew Horton of Madison, MS; Josh also leaves his maternal grandparents, Bill and Susie Stokes (G-Daddy and G-Mama) Simpsonville, SC; paternal grandparents, Sonny and Aleda Howell (Poppy and Meme) Biloxi, MS; paternal grandparents, Barry and Crystal Weer of Illinois. Josh was deeply loved by his aunts, uncles and cousins. Aunt Brandy (Kurt) Walters and cousins Caroline and Lilly; Aunt Ashley (Ted) Williams and cousins Bayley and Jackson; Uncle Derick (Melanie) Howell and cousins Delanie (Aaron), baby Hayes and Darcy. Josh was blessed with many, many more friends and family who loved him. There are too many to list.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Southern Mississippi Funeral Services of Ocean Springs, with all visitation and services held at Lemoyne Boulevard Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday May 21, from 12-2 pm at the church. The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at the church. Family and friends are invited to continue the celebration of Josh’s life at the home of Sonny and Aleda Howell following the funeral.
