Obituary for Monique Suzanne Rivera (Blanchet)
Monique Suzanne Rivera, age 85, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022 in Ocean Springs, MS. She was born December 6, 1936 in Paris, France. Preceding Monique in death is her husband, Refugio Rivera and her brother, Noel Mattei. Mrs. Rivera is survived by her son, Pete Rivera of Ocean Springs, MS and her grandchildren, Russel Rivera of Huntsville, AL and Jessica Hickok of Nashville, TN.
Monique loved life and lived it to the fullest. She traveled the world and lived in several countries including France, Scotland, Spain and the U.S.A. She loved the outdoors and everything it offered. She loved the beach and she loved to fish as well as camping in her younger years. After completing cosmetology school, she forged ahead and opened her own styling salon which became successful for many years. Her love of animals was also evident as she always had pets such as dogs, cats, birds and fish.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Ocean Springs Health and Rehabilitation as well as a special thank you to the hospice nurses who showed her love and compassion.
Visitation will be held for family and friends on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services, 6631 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS.
