Obituary for Juliette Minerva Caylor (Wallace)

Juliette Minerva Wallace was born on December 5, 1934, in Clinton, CT, the youngest of 8 children born to George and Esther Wallace. Julie’s, mother preceded her in death when Julie was 7 years old, and her father preceded her in death when she was 11 years old, leaving Julie an orphan. She lived with different family members until she graduated from high school. She worked for a time as a clerk, and then joined the Air Force and continued her clerical career in the Air Force. When she was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, she would meet a young Airman named Eugene Caylor. They married a few months later, but when she became pregnant with their first child, she was honorably discharged from the Air Force, as in those days, pregnant women were not to remain in the service to their country.

Julie settled into her role as wife and mother, and would remain a housewife and mother, supporting her husband in his employment whether working for another, or in his own businesses, which would take him around the world. As the children grew older, Julie would accompany Eugene on trips to Hawaii and the Philippines.

In addition to her parents, Julie was preceeded in death by 3 sisters and 3 brothers, her oldest child, David Caylor, 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth Pekarek, Robert Norris, and David’s son, Matthew Caylor. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sherry Caylor, and the father of her children, Eugene Caylor.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Valerie Hatcher (John), Clifton, VA, Judy Noble, Long Beach, MS, Kathie Farrell (Bobby), Eugene, OR, Robert Caylor (Sonya), Gulfport, MS, and Michael Caylor (Nita), Brandon, MS and her sister Edith Kufta of New Haven, CT. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

A private service for family will be held at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services in Ocean Springs, with interment to follow at the VA Cemetery in Biloxi, MS. A gathering to remember Julie will be held at a later date.
