Obituary for Robert Earl Wilcox

Robert Earl Wilcox went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife, Joy
and a room filled with many of his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Robert was born June 30, 1937, in Montoursville, PA. Shortly after graduating high school, Robert
entered the USAF. He went to college to become an engineer and had an incredibly adventurous 31
years as Regional Field Engineer and Technical Advisor for Solar Turbines, a division of Caterpillar Inc. He
lived and worked in over 40 countries and never met a stranger during his travels. He always ate
whatever his foreign host offered, no matter if it was monkey brains, rodents’ eyeballs, or some other
unrecognizable animal part.
Robert loved doing mission work when he wasn’t galivanting all over the world. In July of 2004 during a
mission trip to Maine, Robert accepted Christ as his savior at the age of 67. In 2005 following the
aftermath of Katrina, Robert decided to retire and devote his life’s work to helping people through
church missions, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, Harrison, and Jackson County Baptist Associations. He
worked for 3 years helping to build and rebuild over 300 homes for residents across the Gulf Coast area.
Robert is survived by his best friend and loving wife Joy Henson Wilcox of 19 years, daughters, Lorelei
Biggs and Sabrina (Justin) Wilkerson sons, Richard (Dana) Wilcox, Tim (Kate) Wilcox and Derek (Heather)
Callender, grandchildren, Ashley Baker, Tiffany Whitehouse, Zach (Bryanna) Wilcox, Cody Wilcox, Leif
Moore, Kamille Rawlins, Korbin Wilkerson, Corban Moore, Kayleigh Callender, Jackson Callender and
Amelia Callender, great-grandchildren, Tristan, Ella, Everleigh, Lincoln and Rylee Kirkland, Presley and
Brinley Wilcox, sisters Betty Smith and Jackie Seyler and many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, and
friends.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Dena and Walter Wilcox, son, Robert “Bobby” Wilcox and
former wife, Karon Jones Wilcox.
A celebration of life will be held Friday January 6, 2023, from 4:30-5:30 and service from 5:30-6:00 at
Lemoyne Blvd. Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his church Lemoyne Blvd.
