John Francis Barry, 61, of Vancleave MS passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023, in his home.
“Johnny” was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for guns, hunting, & fishing. In his childhood, he was
known by his mother as a true “Huckleberry Finn”. For those that knew Johnny, there was no doubt he
put his whole heart into everything he did. The deep love he had for his daughter and grandchildren was
immeasurable. Throughout his life, he could be found in the swamp with a fishing pole or in the woods
with his favorite gun. He was a hard worker and master carpenter in his working days. His eye for detail
could be clearly seen and appreciated by all. Johnny was an old soul and always had a great story to tell.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Helen Barry along with his brother, Marty
Barry. He is survived by his loving daughter, Ashley (Gill) Barry; Grandchildren, Faith, Averie, & Liam Gill;
Sisters, Rosa Hornke & Cindy Holder; Brother, Tony Barry; his lifelong friend Ralph King; along with
numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Johnny will be greatly missed by many.
Johnny’s Pallbearers are Tony Barry, Ralph King, Clint Holder, William Green, Alvin Green, Keith
Scarbrough, Blaze Barry, and John Cunningham. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023
from 9:30-11 a.m. at Magnolia Baptist Church in Vancleave. Service will begin at 11 a.m. and be
officiated by Bro. Chase Elkins with a graveside service to follow at the Vancleave #1 (Old Shiloh)
