Linda Carol Franson 72 former native of Hurley Mississippi and recently of Ocean Springs Mississippi passed away peacefully Thursday February 2nd at 12:50 am. Linda passed peacefully in her sleep after a 3 1/2-year battle of dementia. Linda was born on April 7th, 1950, to Ruby Freeman Sanders and Milton Coy Sanders of Columbus Mississippi. Her family settled in Moss Point, Mississippi where she attended school graduating from Moss Point High in 1968. Linda was the oldest of the four sisters Jennifer, Wanda, Rita Lynn and her mother Ruby and her stepfather Bill Birsdal where they lived a happy and memorable life in Moss Point, MS. Linda pursued a career in nursing at Singing River Hospital after completing and graduating with an RN degree at MGCCC in 1989. She then continued her career with Home Health nursing for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and grandchildren. Linda was such a sweet and delightful person that did not meet a stranger. She would light up a room when she entered, and she always knew how to make everyone feel special. Everyone that knew Linda loved her. Linda also loved watching the New Orleans Saints football with family. She loved Elvis Presley and will always recall the time she got to meet him.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother Milton Sanders and Ruby Sanders Birdsal, her stepfather Bill Birdsal, her sisters Rita Lynn Campbell, Wanda Horton, and Jennifer Shoemaker. Maternal grandparents William Leslie Freeman and Ada Alexander. Paternal grandparents Mr. Milton H and Mrs. Louise G. Sanders. Her pain has passed, and she will be joining many loving hearts waiting for her.
She is survived by her children Patrick and Donna Morrison of Pascagoula Mississippi, Holly and Stuart Phillips of Ocean Springs Mississippi, and Matthew Franson of Ocean Springs Mississippi. Grandchildren Garrett and Gracie Mcdonald and Gabby and Grayson Phillips of Ocean Springs Mississippi, Christian Morrison of Ocean Springs Mississippi and Victoria Jones of Lucedale Mississippi. She is also survived by her Aunt Dot Nelson of Columbus,MS, cousins Patti (Kim) Johnson of Columbus,MS, Donna (Eric) Andresen of San Rafael,CA, and Steve (Terri) Nelson of Luverne,AL. Her nieces and nephews Steven and Diane Shoemaker and Amy Shoemaker of Florida. Corey Horton of Pascagoula Mississippi and Joey Campbell of Mobile Alabama. Also, her previous husband Roger Franson of D'Iberville Mississippi. Visitation will be Wednesday February 8th from 10-12 @ Southern Mississippi Funeral Home in Ocean Springs Mississippi. Funeral Services will follow at the Southern Mississippi Chapel with pastor Allen Regan at 12:00 officiating. Interment will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs Mississippi.
