Mr. John Morton, 60, of Gulfport, MS, died peacefully Saturday evening, January 28, 2017 in Biloxi, MS. He was surrounded by family and friends after losing his battle with cancer.John was born in Fort Campbell Kentucky, on April 23, 1956, son of Mary Mae and John Manson Morton, Sr. John was of the Catholic faith. He attended Junction City High School in Kansas and graduated with the class of 1974. He continued his education at Central Texas College. Afterwards, John began his 35 year career with the Army Air Force Exchange Service at age 16 in Germany. While working in the Washington DC area, John met and married his devoted and loving wife, Brenda, of nearly 30 years. During his career with AAFES he held many positions and lived in the Washington DC area, Texas, Alabama, Panama and was transferred to the MS Gulf Coast where he made his permanent home and retired in 2011. He was very knowledgeable and skilled with all computer and electronic operations. He had an extensive collection of electronics and computers that he repaired and rebuilt. John was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and had an extensive collection of Dallas Cowboy football memorabilia. John enjoyed traveling, movies, Rock and Roll, and spending time with his family and friends.He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Brenda LaFontaine Morton, of Gulfport, MS ; his step-son, Gregory Solt (Jennifer), grandchildren, McKenna Odom (Nolan) Sarah Solt and Avery Kayte Solt, his four sisters, Peggy Steward (Joseph), Kerry Morton (Jean Francois), Barbara Mays (Donnie) and Donna Green (Robert), his brother, Jerry Morton (Linda), his sister in law Denise (Dan); brother in law, Gary Raymond; nieces, Amanda, Audrey, Michelle, Danielle and Carly Marie, Nephews, Marcous, John Thomas Ty and Gary Joe, and many cousins and close friends.A special thanks to Kindred Hospice and the staff at the Pillars for their care attending to the needs of our beloved John.A private “Celebration of Life” to honor John Morton will be held at a later date.
