Obituary for Mary Ann Quave (Johnson)

Mrs. Mary Ann Johnson Quave, 84, of Carnes and formerly of Woolmarket, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 in Gulfport. Mrs. Quave was formerly a member of Woolmarket Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and currently a member of First Baptist Church of Carnes. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Red Cross Volunteer. She also served as an election poll worker at White Plains; and, to her family, she was a gourmet cook. She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Anderson Johnson and Juliet Laine Krohn Johnson; a grandson, Christopher Daniel Quave; sisters, Justine Fairley and Janice Williams, and brothers, Henry Johnson and John “Johnny” Johnson. Mrs. Quave is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Artie W. Quave; sons, David R. (Janet) Quave and Daniel R. (Debbie) Quave; a daughter, Beverly (Doug) Bazzell; brother, Daniel Laine Johnson; sister, Ivy Palmer; grandchildren, Jennifer Quave(Stephen) Hilton, Casey Quave Husley, Davey (Melissa) Quave, Chad (Rachel) Quave, Chase Quave, Aaron (Sarah) Bazzell, and Nic (Kati) Bazzell; great grandchildren, Jonathan Hilton, Morgan Husley, Erin Husley, Emma Grace Quave, Jules Bazzell, Artie Grey Bazzell, Scarlett Bazzell and a brother in law, Obra L. Quave.The family will receive friends from 9-11 am on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Woolmarket Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 11 am. Interment will follow in Southern Mississippi Memorial Gardens under the direction of Southern Mississippi Funeral Services. The family will receive friends immediately follow the graveside service at the Success Community Center.Mrs. Quave’s family wishes to extend special gratitude to Garden Park Medical Center and Gentiva Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion during her illness.
