Obituary

Ocean Springs, MS – Carroll Philip Cossich, Jr. “Cal”, passed away on April 5, 2019 at the age of 55. Mr. Cossich was born on May 16, 1963, in Port Sulphur, LA. He grew up in Buras, LA and graduated from Buras High School in 1981, where he was a State Champion wrestler. He excelled at numerous other sports as well and set a Guinness World Record with a group of friends by playing 80 consecutive hours of basketball. He loved fishing and trawling for shrimp with his dad and grandpa.

Cal was an entrepreneur who owned numerous successful businesses throughout his career and was a self-employed contract inspector for GIR Solutions, LLC in Lafayette, LA. Cal loved working out at the gym, researching and sharing his knowledge of health and physical fitness with others, and he once owned and operated a health food store called “Captain Nutrition”. Cal also loved coaching his son throughout his childhood in baseball and soccer. His son was his pride and joy.

Cal was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Mae Nesby Cossich. He is survived by his father, Carroll Philip Cossich, Sr., his son, Cal Philip Cossich, III (Courtney), his sisters, Deborah Cossich Martin and Kelli Cossich Mercier (Todd), his brother Marc Cossich (Monique), his nieces and nephews, Jay (Sara) and Miranda Baker, Jake and Molly Mercier, Laine and Wyatt Cossich, his son’s sister, Anne Marie Hurt, whom he loved as a daughter, and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.

There will be a celebration of Cal’s life in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

“He heals my broken heart and binds up my wounds, curing my pain and sorrows” [Psalm 147:3}

Cal always appeared to be happy, and lived and loved to make others happy! He wasn’t perfect and couldn’t walk on water, but he loved to walk on just his two hands! ☺️ But,
he was a good man! And, I and my family
loved him.
